Just Like Bug Heaven

Bugs Die, Witherspoon Lives
We're getting new carpet installed at our place and in addition to having the old terrain torn up we also had an insect sprayer slaughtering our six-legged friends for a while this afternoon too, forcing my parents, sister and self on an old-fashioned family day out. Of sorts. Among other things, including running into Janko outside Paper Plus, we went to see Just Like Heaven together. Aww. It's a fairly enjoyable film that *just* scrapes its way over the line of complete and utter mediocrity, occasionally showing flashes of good-ness but failing to maintain a decent pace along the way. It's also quite uneven in that in between these good-er bits it seems unsure of the best route to get to the next one. But surprisingly, it's not too cheesy even if it's a little predictable and unoriginal at times, and the basic premise alone makes for a compelling enough plot framework to keep the audience interested in what happens next.

I'll give it a C+, or 3/5. If you like romantic comedies I recommend it as there's very little else out at the moment - for NOW at least. OMFG! Stop the press! Out of the blue Munich is opening in NZ on January 26th, 2006 after I couldn't find any info on its release just a couple of days ago!!!!!! Ghjnfjdtugrt!!!!!! See it!!! I hear it's completely mindblowingly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Senor Spielbergo!!!!!!! A return to the Catch Me If You Can / Minority Report form of a few years ago!!!!!!

Will it? Won't it?
Tomorrow may or may not be shooting day/morning for Dennis' short film Kiwi. What's it all about? Will it happen? Will it be delayed again, the planning continue and one final great epiphany spring up in the mind of the visionary young director which totally transforms it into something even more uber-indescribable? Will Kevin Bacon make an obligatory appearence? Only time will tell.

I Love Lamp?
Not related to Anchorman in any way whatsoever, rather this is the title of a new movie-related column soon to be added to NaturalFlux7.com, who created the very amusing celebrity-satire site The Deli, which is for people who hate women's mags, tabloid papers and the whole hoopla of gossip that surrounds celebrities with a vengeance - and a sense of humour. Some of it might not be your cup of tea, but there's enough genius there for you to at least give it a chance to rope you in, perhaps starting HERE or HERE or maybe HERE. Anyways, I Love Lamp, coming soon.
